From the President

Conference planner, Dr. Andro Barnett has selected an intriguing venue for this years’ conference. Shepherdstown is the oldest town in West Virginia, founded in 1762 as Mecklenburg. Some of our members frequented the town back in April for a conference planning meeting. This was my first stay in Shepherdstown which lead me to some eclectic shops and dining establishments on German Street. The Bavarian Inn is a little costly but well worth the stay or dining experience which has been a referral by our own Bane McCracken. Also, for the faint at heart, the town is known for ghosts and ghosts stories. The town is home to the Shepherd Rams where our own Dr. Andro Barrent is employed.

Andro would like everyone to wear their new WVAHPERD shirts on Thursday with registration, sessions and vendors booths open in the morning and  continuing with a board meeting at 4:00. The awards banquet will be on Thursday evening (do not forget to wear your favorite WV college team jersey) followed by Karaoke. Board members, please remember your table favors. The judges promise to entertain along with the contestants who will sing for cash prizes. All of you singers start practicing now!

Friday, will continue with sessions and vendor booths followed by the silent auction and Bea Orr Gala. Please visit our silent auction to make a bid or up some ones previous bid during the two days. Executive director, Sue Long puts an abundance amount of time and energy into the success of the silent auction and the Bea Orr Gala. All board members and department chairs are asked to donate items to the auction. Friday evening there will be a Past Presidents dinner. Please join us at 8:30 pm for a Presidents social for our newly elected Ashley Doty. Congratulations

Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live. (Jim Rhon)
